Hi! I've been really into the whole aesthetic of this thing and I was wondering if maybe any of y'all had some website suggestions that still have that whole late 90s to mid 2000s look? One of them that I use is hexrpg.com which is a harry potter site, but I really want some more variation with my attempts to pretend it's about 20 years ago and I'm happy lol

One of them that I use is hexrpg.com which is a harry potter site, but I really want some more variation with my attempts to pretend it's about 20 years ago and I'm happy lol GoNNa feel like bit of n00b for doing this but my site has 00/90s flavor: Bliss Net (if that's what you're craving) Other than that there's Cameron's World ( it has some still kind of working links to various GeoCities) If you poke around Neocities lots of sites on their have a cool webcore aesthetics and they usually have links to ACTUAL old web sites in their links sections One I would really recommend is Sarah's Planet she's the one I take ALOT of inspo from, Melon Kingdom is another good one also (their site's real wacky) There are a few web graphic sites that still have their 2000s aesthetics first one that comes to mind is Blingee (although its much still pretty up in the air if its gonna to last past next month due to flash being chunky-"its dead"), PicMix seems to be slowly taking Blingee's place (since its pic maker uses html5 i think) while that site's pretty new, the content still vibes early 00s glitter pics, Glitter-Graphics an old fave (that's where i got my icon from) its semi- updated but still got that 00s charm, Sozai-Graphics is another one , but be careful a good chunk of the links are dead but if you stick em in the way back they are good as new, be sure to follow the instructions each website has because most of them are in Japanese, SmilChat is another graphic site that has alot of smileys and emotes, and Canuck's House of Kaoani's has a BUNCH of different Kao-ani (basically rice balls with faces on them) emojis, its in french but google translate does a decent job of translating stuff, and Cher's Blinkie Collection has TONS of blinkies with TONs of links to sites with even more blinkies (most of them still work), (if you want more links to web graphic sites DM me, I dont want to make this post too long oof) GeoCities Gallery and OOcites are both pretty good Geocities archives, the only thing is that your antivirus might try to go off and block you from the site, I've been on both of these sites for a while now and nothing bad has happened to me, so I label both of these alerts from my antivirus false positives and added these two to my allow list in my virus software... Lastly, Gifcities is a good way to find 00/90s site through just clicking on the gifs there and they usually lead you to the source sites and the adventure only begins from there (The only warning I have is that SOME links to old sites that have been brought by other people can lead to some WEIRD places, so just be careful; this goes for general old web surfing )One last one is the way back then tumblr, its not webcore aesthetic itself but it has a bunch of links to old girly 2000s games (like Myscene, Barbie, Polly Pocket) currently they're starting to archive most of the games on archive.com, so people can download and play the games offline and they also been working together with the Flashpoint Project as well AND LAST LAST ONE Everskies, its a new doll dress up game that lets you dress up a pixel doll and customize your profile to the fullest, lots of people's profiles look like those from the old myspace days. There's been some drama on the site recently involving the forums but if you can ignore that the site's pretty cool Hope you find my ramble somewhat helpful...oof BIG ADDENDUM CHECK!!!!!, there's also a MySpace clone I found through necocities, its an addition to the Windows93 Emulator (which is another great webcore site), the community on there seems to be pretty active (a little bit weird but still pretty cool)

Decentralized internet is being brought up here. I remember 20 years ago we talked about decentralizing the internet but it was in the context of beating Yahoo and AOL back in the early 2000's. At the time when I was in High School we talked about AOL and Yahoo as "Big Tech" in the same way we talk about Google, Facebook, Twitter today.

theoldnet.com/Here is a place to go to for the web in the late 90's and early 2000's. It's called the old net if you want to see how life was before Facebook and Twitter took over everything.

For technical sites, I've set my homepage on my SeaMonkey browser to the compuserve page. It's actually been super helpful since it's got all the latest news updates lol.
I'd definitely check out neocities. The personal webpages there are very Y2K themed!
